First golden hour in Delivery room – how to train the neonatology team?
During exercise it is important to work out the main basic steps to assist in preterm
infants. Base is the principle of «assessment – decision – action».
• First – students need to see and understand the situation in which they should act.
They need to know the main indications for newborn care.
• Second – in parallel with working off the basic principles of resuscitation occurs
assessment approaches to aseptic and antiseptic.
• Third – tutor should evaluate the manual skills of students, the knowledge of basic
resuscitation techniques and the ability to work with the equipment.
• Fourth – the training of doctors to communicate with relatives, finding the right
words, to develop empathy.
One of the main methods – the use of video recording actions of students and
organisation of discussion of their skills.
